PRESS RELEASE:
A true artist is fearless—in reality truthfulness is the greatest rebellion.
For me, discipline is like gravity. It is the only thing that keeps me from floating away.
The problem is, I rarely feel like a woman. I mostly feel like other things, like characters—other characters.
I didn’t plan any of this (while looking at my art all around my apartment). I wouldn’t survive without this. People aren’t enough, nature isn’t enough—magic is.
The works depict Ibarra being alive. Of course, in a human form. Being not dead yet inspires me. What excites me—truth, silence, the Moon, and fear, irrational fear for all to see. And the perfect timing of time.
Don’t you twitch sometimes, like a star?
The bottom line is, I would rather create something truthful than something beautiful.
